The dramatic finish has only strengthened the tournament’s reputation as snooker’s “fourth major,” now firmly sitting alongside the sport’s traditional Triple Crown events.
With a total prize fund of £2.3 million, the Saudi Masters is now second only to the World Championship. The winner’s cheque of £500,000 matches the Crucible’s top prize, underlining just how big this event has become. The tournament only launched last year in Riyadh, when Judd Trump also won 10–9 in a thriller against Mark Williams.

Now in its second year, the landmark partnership between WST and Saudi sporting authorities is backed by a major legacy programme. Together with the Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Arabian Billiard & Snooker Federation, the tours are working to grow cue sports from the ground up – from grassroots coaching and youth training to international wild cards that give regional talent a shot at the elite level.
